As a heavily tattooed health care administrative employee, I need to keep my options open when covering up. In this particular environment it can be challenging, especially with my finger tattoos – since I wash my hands well over 20 times a day. Finding a product that can cover, not be more obvious than the tattoo itself, and last all day is difficult for these tattoos. But this product so far is working perfectly.

First I tried the fairest of them all, because let’s face it I’m pretty dang pale. It is a touch too pale for me but thankfully there are several shades to choose from (plus you can layer to get the color that works best on your skin)

This is almost an exact match for my skin tone. If you look hard you know something is underneath but this one layer serves its purpose – in having no one questioning me or having any idea that I even have tattoos in the first place.

They are simple to apply. You cut the size and shape you need, remove the clear film, apply it with the paper facing you and apply moisture to the back for about 30 seconds. It reminds me of temporary tattoos, just in this case we are hiding tattoos instead of flaunting them. Overall it is great. Yes I have days where I wish I would have never gotten these particular tattoos, but this product helps me get through each day easily.

I really appreciate products like this because it allows us with tattoos to be accepted in workplaces where tattoos are not.

A kit of 6 color sheets is only $9.95 and with a tattoo this small it will last you at least a couple of months. You can learn more about Tatjacket and their Eclipse Tattoo Cover Patches and other products on their website, and you can purchase direct.

I’ve had really bad luck with tattoo concealer products over the years. To be honest, I was pessimistic coming into this review. I’m so pale and my tattoos appear so bright against my pasty white skin it makes it difficult to cover. Plus most concealers wipe or rub off in a very short time frame.

Whatever your reason for covering up your ink, keep the doubters quiet by concealing your tattoos and body art with water-resistant tattoo concealer. Tattoo cover up and tattoo concealer options abound, but few are as easy to apply as the TatJacket Airless Pump and the Concealer Blender Pack. Plus, a variety of skin-color hues means that no matter your skin tone, you will be covered. Delivered in an easy-to-apply pump, the Tatjacket Premium Tattoo Concealer 30ML Airless Pump is suited for all skin types and tattoos. With optimum elasticity, the product doesn’t crack or flake on the job. Plus, it’s simply removed with soap and water—no extra removers are required. It’s also useful for hiding scars, acne and other skin imperfections. For an even easier application, the TatJacket Tattoo Concealer Blender Pack can be used to conceal any kind of tattoo in a single step. Water-resistant and elastic, the Blender Pack is available in different skin hues to customize a solution as unique as you are.

I ended up applying two layers of the concealer in light. Pleasantly surprised it matched my skin tone fairly well and didn’t make me look like a discolored monster. The formula is thick and easy to dab on. I used my finger. After letting one coat set I rubbed my finger against it and it didn’t budget so I dabbed on another coat of it. I wore it for an entire 8 hour shift at work, came home, showered, and I still had some concealer in place after scrubbing. This is the first ever tattoo concealer success story for me! Woohoo!

I love that this product will allow me to not have to button up my button ups all the way to the top button like a gangster. Just by covering up a small area on my chest I can feel like I’m not literally trying to hide anything from the world (even though I kind of am) I will also continue to use it on my wrists for when a long sleeve shirt isn’t quite long enough.

There is no drying or restricting feeling to the product when it sets. You can choose what color is closest to your tone, or as seasons change mix and match so it is always a good cover. I’m a new Tatjacket tattoo concealer fan!

This was the Tatjacket Tattoo Concealer Blender Pack 1 (LIGHT, LT TAN, LT BRONZE) Price: $19.95

I went a little nuts on the Juice Beauty site a few weeks ago. Fortunately, it turned out to be a very good thing.

Here is what I got:

Correcting concealer in Sand, SPF 30 tinted moisturizer in Sand, Glowing cheek color in Pink, Refining finishing powder in Sand, Illuminating eye color in Champagne.

What I loved/hated about each product…

concealer = (+) great coverage, good for my skin; (-) it comes out very quickly and is thin so it pools in the cap

tinted moisturizer = (+) thick, dreamy, creamy formula that has good coverage; (-) smells like old school sun tan lotion

cheek color = (+) perfect color, need very little to get a beautiful flushed cheek, (-) nothing

finishing powder = (+) everything, (-) nothing

eye color = (+) super soft subtle color with a gorgeous shimmer, (-) make more color options!

In that little picture above I’m wearing all of the products together. The only thing that isn’t Juice Beauty is the mascara. I even used my Reflecting gloss in Pink.

Juice Beauty has seriously sold me as a fan. I also got some skin care products that I’ll be writing about at another time.

I’ve got to recommend them. Natural beauty. and cruelty free!

For some reason I’m really getting into sharing my make-up routines again.

I have a feeling you will be seeing more YouTube tutorials as soon as my make-up room makeover is complete!

For this face of the day I wanted to go neutral so I pulled out my favorite neutral palette: Kat Von D Saint

I did the same base face as last time: Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer in sand, Sephora mineral foundation in medium, and It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores.

My blush was Illamasqua Hussy and my lips are Juice Beauty fig gloss.

I use It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye for dark circle coverage. Then I used my Kat Von D Saint palette for the shadows.

My brows I used an angled liner brush and Elf brow powder. To line my eyes I used Smashbox Sephia gel liner. Mascara is Hard Candy Lashaholic on top and bottom.

Not too exciting I just wanted to share! Have a great day and stay warm out there!

xoxo

I am on a constant mission for a holy grail of concealer. I’ve got some go-to products but it kind of seems like I have one concealer for one thing, and another for another part of my face… why can’t there just be ONE?! So I go into each new concealer experience with ridiculous high hopes and expectations.

When I received Smashbox high-definition liquid concealer in fair I went in with no fear. I used it under my eyes and on my blemishes. The Smashbox website describes it as a weightless concealer and it really does have that texture to it. When you use the product it tends to have a watery consistency but that isn’t a bad thing. Thick concealers cake up easily and find it more to be a Spackle effect on budding lines and wrinkles in maturing skin. It suggests you can use it direct from the tube to apply but I like to use my fingers or a sponge.

My only issue is that I received it in fair – and I think that with seasonal skin complexion changes it would be nice to have one darker shade for blending as my skin tone changes. There are six shades from fair to dark.

Overall it blended great and could be a holy grail only if I had gotten a different shade. However I am super-duper curious about their newly advertised Second Skin Concealer. I am a Smashbox lover, period. My five minute face essentially revolves around their products and I feel like a million bucks. Much love to the Smashbox creators. I constantly look forward to seeing what is new with you!

My only tip for this is to choose your shade carefully! …and then hope they come out with one of their industrial-sized tubes…

Product provided for 100% honest review

I’ve got a company I recently discovered to share with you today, called It Cosmetics. I had been very excited and curious to try their products and I wanted to share my experience with you.

It Cosmetics has been featured of dozens of magazines such as People, Elle, and Allure. The “it” stands for innovative technology. This morning I wanted to show you their award-winning concealer.

The product is called “Bye Bye Under Eye” and is stated as, “Bye Bye Under Eye offers a waterproof, yet moisturizing formula that will stay put no matter what.? The truly innovative formula contains high concentrations of Vitamins K, A, C, E and Collagen - clinically proven to reduce under eye puffiness and discoloration while strengthening the delicate skin of the under eye area”

Sounds too good to be true, as do most concealers… but this stuff is no freaking joke. Holy moly. I tried this yesterday morning for the first time. Let me put this scenario in place for you… I woke up at 3am to get to work by 4:30am. So I got about 6 hours of sleep, and I really love my sleep so that was a heart-breaker. I woke up feeling fine, but I did not look quite as chipper as I felt. So I opened my brand new package of Bye Bye Under Eye.

here is the stock photo from It cosmetics’ website. I was told that 70% of all women fall into the neutral medium shade, and I was one of those women.

As you can see there is a VERY small amount of product on my finger – that was used on one eye…

The eye on the left has nothing. Yuck. It looks like it’s going to be swallowed by a black-hole. The eye on the right had that small amount of product, and really gave my eye a fresh perky look!

I wore the product ALL DAY. Literally. From 3am – 9pm and it never wore off. I looked just as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as I did from the get-go. I definitely didn’t feel as hot as I looked. But this product is a MUST for any ladies suffering from under eye issues. I swear, I have tried at least a couple dozen different types of brands and concealer types to get anywhere near what this product did and they didn’t even come close to measuring up. It’s $24 and worth every penny – especially knowing you can get away with using so little of it… but I want them to make it in a tub-size so I never have to worry about running out or maybe so I can just rub it all over my body to make it look better. I’ve gone through their entire website and am so impressed with this one product (I still have one more to try out) that I am just dying to try out their other stuff.

What else of It cosmetics might you be interested in? My Sculpted Face, Nail & Cuticle treatment pen, Bye Bye Pores (Review coming soon), My Firm Legs (yes, please) — there’s so much more. Please visit their website.

Have you tried any of their products? What do you think?

Continuing on my Smashbox finds – today I have for you their Photo Finish lid primer. I have to admit, I have never used an actual lid primer. I used make-up primer, concealers, etc… and no matter what I used my pretty eyeshadow always ended up pooling into the crease of my eye by noon. It was frustrating. Finally I have something to keep my colors in place, and it is an amazing thing. I’m kind of mad at myself for waiting as long as I have to try a lid primer. I can only imagine that all work virtually the same. This will be a basis for all future comparisons, and I have to say that all you competitors out there have a tough battle ahead of you because I found absolutely nothing wrong with this product.

image from www.smashbox.com

here is my eye, with primer – no other make-up

The product states you can wear it on its own or under eyeshadow. Of course I had to try both, and I was equally pleased with both ways. Wearing it on its own gave me a nice natural lid, which is really nice. It took away the pinkish tone that my lids normally have on their own.

I also used it under Kat Von D and Victoria Secret eyeshadow. Both were worn for a full day at work so from the time of application to the time I arrived back at home after work, it is a total of 10 hours of wear. There were absolutely no bald spots, no color pooling, no extra crud in my creases. It looked like I had just applied my shadow, and it was fan-freaking-tastic. Smashbox, you have truly won my heart between the glosses and the primers. I thought that the “O-line” was outstanding from previous experience, but this last week of using these products has far exceeded my expectations.

You can purchase Photo Finish lid primer and the Softbox lip gloss collection on the Smashbox website.

Hello readers, this post is a review of the Smart Cover product line. This cosmetic line always intrigued me as I saw it featured in various publications or on TV, and I had to give it a try for myself. The purpose behind the line of products is to conceal skin imperfections such as acne, scarring, birth marks, under eye circles, rosacea, veins, wrinkles, age spots, etc.

The package I got was the Smart Cover Kit in “Light” that included a concealer stick, four different concealer cremes and a pot for mixing your own color, a primer, a vitamin beauty stick, three brushes, two sponges, a finishing powder, color corrector and a wash. Pretty impressive combination for $30.

Sorry because I started tearing apart the set before I took my picture. Doh!

I gave this product a few different challenges. The first challenge was my face because I personally suffer from uneven skin tone, Melasma, and dark under eye circles. I’ve been extremely hesitant in posting this because it’s my bare face before make-up. Hello, embarrassment. Oh well, here we go…

That’s my face before (no make-up at all)

Face after applying Smart Cover components. I do have to state here that I think this is an amazing beauty product for facial imperfections. I’ve had girl friends with Rosacea that bothered them to no end, or birth marks they felt were unsightly. For these kinds of things Smart Cover is outstanding. If you have patience and want it done right you can absolutely use this and it will be clean and professional looking. I didn’t feel like it looked too cakey, even though I would have preferred to use a moisturizer underneath but that again is just my personal preference because my skin gets dry fast in certain areas. This product isn’t the first thing to make me dry, pretty much everything I put on does which is why I have to use the moisturizer underneath. For this review, I did not. And I know if I had I would have been even more ecstatic with the results. So if you have a dozen different concealers at home that you’re mixing and matching to get what you need I say give this a shot. I’ve never had clean overall coverage in such a short amount of time.

The second test I did was trying to cover a tattoo. The website states it can be used for this, so I had to give it a go. However, my results for this were not nearly as successful as my first trial on my face…

I chose a tattoo on my wrist for this

before

after

Now I am sure I could have spent more time with my color corrector to get a shade that was a closer match to my skin tone. The unfortunate reality is that for most cosmetic tattoo cover ups you have to go several shades darker than your skin tone – or have someone who is just really dang good at applying make-up do it for you professionally. I’m convinced of this with the amount of products I have gone through. However, if you read my post on Hide Ink I think this might be a great addition to cover it, let’s say for a photo shoot or something of that nature. But for the sole purpose of covering up a tattoo I prefer the Hide Ink product.

On another note I really enjoyed the cleanser! It states it’s good for make-up removal, or anywhere on the body so I used it in the shower to wash my face and body. I’ve got to say, it has some natural exfoliants in it that made my skin incredibly smooth after-wards when normally I am a bit dry all over. So there’s your random fact for the kit.

Overall I think that Smart Cover is genius because there are about a billion products out there that say they conceal imperfections and that they’re the best but most of them are pretty crumby. It’s also a really good set for the price if you are just wanting to try it out. If you would like to learn more about Smart Cover, please click this link to their website.

I have many more things for review this week including some lip gloss, new nail polishes, some new Konad designs, and more… stay tuned…

If you would like to follow my blog please do so by adding my Facebook.

Thank you! xoxo
